New Jersey vs Everybody Else: The Gaslight Anthem Plays Homecoming Show

Last Saturday, PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ was the stomping ground for The Gaslight Anthem. The band’s hometown show was the final stop on a month-long US tour with support from both Tigers Jaw and Jeff Rosenstock, and singer Brian Fallon wasted no time telling the crowd how happy he was to be playing there.

Midway through the set, Fallon let the crowd know that the first concert he ever saw as a kid was at PNC, a Depeche Mode show that left him knowing he wanted to play that same stage one day. In an incredibly wholesome, seemingly endless speech, he told the audience that if his band was up on that stage, there was absolutely nothing that anyone in that crowd couldn’t do. “Whatever you wanna do in life, why not try it?” he repeated smiling ear to ear.

He also, of course, reminded everyone over and over how much he loved New Jersey, and how much he loved playing in his home state. “It’s New Jersey vs everybody else” he yelled, and the crowd certainly agreed.
