Asbury Lanes, the combination bowling alley and music venue in Asbury Park, was lucky enough to be graced by Samia’s presence for an intimate Sunday night show just across from the beach. Joined by Asbury Park’s own Little Hag, and tour-mate Christian Lee Hutson, the show really felt like a party with a few hundred of your closest friends.
Playing mostly songs off her sophomore album, this year’s Honey (out on Grand Jury Music), the crowd danced, sang, and cried the night away to Samia’s deeply personal and widely relatable songs. Her voice is just as incredible and captivating live as you’d expect it to be. Joined by Christian Lee Hutson for “To Me It Was”, Maya Hawke for “Honey”, and a spattering of friends for the finale of “Show Up”, it was impossible not to feel the love in the room. Perhaps the most endearing moment came towards the end, when Samia asked the crowd “What are you all doing after this? Do you wanna come on the rest of the tour? I like it when we’re all hanging out.”
