David Bowie World Fan Convention

David Bowie Fans Will Gather in NYC to Honor Musician’s Life

If you live in New York City, the David Bowie World Fan Convention will be coming near you next weekend! From June 16 through 18, Bowie fans from all around the world will honor their favorite star’s life with special activities. They will also commemorate the 50th and 40th anniversary of Aladdin Sane and Let’s Dance, respectively.

Last year in June, for the first ever David Bowie World Fan Convention, 1,500 fans gathered in Liverpool, England to meet each other and celebrate Bowie. Now, for the second convention, the event will be held in NYC’s Terminal 5 (610 West 56th Street), and it will be filled with plenty of entertainment for fans of all ages. From guest speakers to live performances, dance parties, Bowie-themed drinks, and a best-dressed competition, David Bowie fanatics are in for a treat.

Amongst the guest speakers who will participate in the convention are Carlos Alomar, who played guitar on eleven David Bowie albums between 1975 and 2003; Joey Arias, who worked as a dancer and backing vocalist for Bowie during his Saturday Night Live performance in 1979; Kevin Armstrong, who played guitar with Bowie at Live Aid; Nicholas Pegg, who’s an expert on David Bowie, and who wrote the encyclopedic The Complete David Bowie; and Tony Visconti, who produced many of Bowie’s albums, and who was the inspiration behind the 1977 classic “Heroes.” The line-up includes several other confirmed speakers who worked closely with Bowie and are ready to make his fans happier than ever.

Although the convention tickets are sold out, you still have the chance to get tickets for Deryck Todd’s BowieBall. Hosted by renowned Bowie perfomer Michael T, the BowieBall features performances from musician Jeff Slate, vocalist Ava Cherry, and Bowie DJs TheMenWhoFell2Earth. The ball will take place on Saturday June 17 from 8pm to 2am in Racket New York City. So grab your red shoes and dance the night away at the BowieBall. You can get your tickets by clicking here!
